I married the love of my life and my soul mate three weeks ago on April 30th, 2011 in Laguna Beach, California. It was hands down the best day of my life. The weather was beautiful, we were surrounded by everyone we love, and I experienced so many different emotions (all good) in one day. People say that when you're a little girl, you dream about planning your wedding your whole life....for me, that planning was different every day. I went from having a princess wedding in a castle, so being barefoot in the sand in some far off destination. I went from roses to tulips, to daisies, to orchids. My idea of my "perfect day" changed so many times in my head, but on our special day, it was everything I've dreamed of, at the risk of sounding cliche.
What people DON"T say...is the different emotion you experience when it's all over. I told my husband (still getting used to the word) that I felt like Cinderella after midnight. My glass slipper Jimmy Choos traded in for Rainbow flip-flops. The ball gown traded in for my husband's hand-me-down Sammy Hagar shirt. My flawlessly made up face traded in for bags under my eyes from the previous day's roller coaster of emotions. All my princess bridesmaids and best friends returning to their prospective home towns, none of which are in New York with me.
I listened to people who told me to "take a minute" at the reception. There was a moment where I took a seat & watched everyone we love in one room, having the time of their lives at the best party of the year. And that, outside of seeing my husband waiting for me at the end of the aisle, was one of my favorite moments of the whole day.
So while the magic of that one day is over, and I could be thinking "now what?", I'm thrilled about what the future holds for the Mobleys. I wanted to start this blog as a little diary of our marriage to document how our lives are changing and developing as a married couple. It may be boring for everyone else, but at least we'll have it for us! I'm not that great at art projects, so this will be a digital scrapbook for us and anyone else who wants to follow Team Metal!
